Equine-assisted psychotherapy EAP
Our therapist determines how equine interactions or aspects of the equine environment may enhance the client's individualized treatment plan with the goal of improving the client's cognitive, behavioral, emotional, or psychological function for improved health and wellness. Our therapist works with a treatment team, including PATH International Certified Equine Specialists in Mental Health and Learning, trained staff/volunteers, and carefully selected equines to support session safety and care for our clients.
EAP is a form of mental health counseling and can be provided as the sole form of counseling a client receives
or may be used with other behavioral healthcare services.
HAALT offers EAP to individuals, families, and groups including children as young as 6 years old.
*HAALT does not offer horseback riding, all HAALT services and activities are conducted unmounted
HAALT offers an experience to reconnect to the natural world by forming a therapeutic relationship with a horse, unmounted. This hands-on approach is unique in that it allows our human responses, behaviors, and communication to be reflected into rich, direct feedback in real-time by the horse(s). The experiential process of building a relationship with a horse can help address and resolve issues such as lack of focus, communication issues, low self-esteem, and processing grief & loss.
Research has shown that symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and stress are reduced
when participating in activities in nature with animals.
We can help you address and overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of healing.
